A Love Letter to Cartagena The Danish photographer Torkil Gudnason has lived in New York since 1978 and built a highly successful career in fashion photography, shooting spreads for all prestigious magazines including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire, Vanity Fair, Tatler, and Esquire as well as campaigns for many major cosmetics producers and fashion houses. Gifted with a sensitive eye for shapes and colors and an inexhaustible zest for experimentation, Gudnason has also created a distinctive oeuvre in art photography. For example, he arranged plants and blossoms in unconventional compositions he then captured in breathtakingly luminous pictures. Rhapsody in All Colors is a new series he shot in Cartagena, Colombia, in 2016 and now publishes in this book together with an essay by Max Blagg. A collection of portraits of local Miss Universe candidates and still lifes featuring fruits, flowers, and domestic articles, it is a singular document of a dreamlike place where time seems to have stopped. Rhapsody in All Colors ist eine neue Serie, die 2016 in der kolumbianischen Stadt Cartagena entstand und nun mit einem Text von Max Blagg im vorliegenden Buch veröffentlicht wird. Es ist eine Ansammlung von Porträts heimischer Miss-Universe-Kandidatinnen sowie von Stillleben aus Früchten, Blumen und Haushaltsgegenständen; ein einzigartiges Dokument eines traumhaften Ortes, in dem die Zeit stehengeblieben scheint.
