The study was done to investigate the factors influencing the occurrence of dental problems among residents of Rwampara Health Subdistrict, Mbarara district. Record review and cross sectional survey using quantitative methods were conducted. The magnitude of the dental problems was found to be 68 per 10000 population per year. The knowledge dental check ups was low and dental health information was not readily available to the population. Dental caries was the leading condition affecting 83.1% of the cases reviewed. Sugar consumption was high. There is need to set a national standard to have comparable magnitude of dental problems. Dental outreach services are in distant communities. Oral health education programs need to be intensified in schools and communities.
