The study of adolescent behaviour developed prominence post 1990 due to technological advancements, internet and mobile services. It became quite evident that the majority of morbidity and mortality during the second decade of life is behavioural in nature. The term adolescent behaviour has been linked to a number of potentially risky behaviours such as substance use, homicide and suicidal behaviour, reckless driving, delinquency and crime. In India, there is substantial information about the number of adolescents exposed to unrestrained media content, although several studies have attempted to measure adolescents exposure to violence. The adolescents are exposed to unrestrained media in their homes, movies, TV shows, Music videos, games and through peer to peer association. Such exposure causes significant social, behavioural, psychological, emotional and mental harm when they enter into adulthood.
