Bienále, uspořádané ve spolupráci Sorosova centra současného umění a Galerie hlavního města Prahy v Domě U kamenného zvonu, se již stalo zavedenou akcí, která má svou pevnou pozici na české umělecké scéně. V r. 1996 vybrali kurátoři K. Srp, O. Malá (GHMP) a L. Hlaváček (SCSU) 12 mladých umělců, kteří pracují jak s novými médii (Silver, I. Jůzová, P. Vargová), tak klasickými technikami (např. J. Novotný, R. Franta), popřípadě v nových souvislostech aktualizují starší tendence (nař. L. Gavlovský landart). Objevem bienále se stalo zejména dílo J. Černického, které obdrželo Výroční cenu SCSU. The Biennale, organized by the Soros Center of the Contemporary Art and the Capital of Prague Gallery in the House at the Stone Bell became an established event with a fixed position on the Czech artistic scene. In 1996 the curators K. Srp, O. Malá (the Capital of Prague Gallery) a L. Hlaváček (SCCA) had chosen 12 young artist who are making use of either new media (Silver, I. Jůzová, P. Vargová) or the classic techniques (e.g. J. Novotný, R. Franta) or, eventually updating already existing tendencies in a new context (e.g. L. Gavlovský landart). A break-through of the biennale was especially the work of J. Černický, who was awarded the Annual Award of the Soros Center of the Contemporary Art.
