90. léta byla v českém umění ve znamení nástupu silné generace, která přišla s novými tématy (sociální rozměr člověka) a médii (fotografie, video aj.). GHMP tento trend systematicky sledovala a dokonce spoluvytvářela, zejména třemi ročníky Bienále mladého umění (Dům U kamenného zvonu) a cyklem výstav nejvýraznějších osobností (Staroměstská radnice). Tyto akce představovaly bázi, na níž GHMP buduje kolekci českého umění devadesátých let. Tato sbírka je v současné době nainstalována v podzemí domu U zlatého prstenu jako nejmladší část stálé expozice GHMP. Katalog, obsahující texty M. Petříčka, K. Srpa a O. Malé, je nejen průvodcem po výstavě, ale i svébytnou reflexí současné situace. Každý ze zastoupených umělců zde má samostatný medailon, představující jak starší, tak i vystavené práce. The Czech art of the 1990s was in the token of the entrance of the strong generation bringing along new themes (social dimension of man) and media (photography, video, etc.). The Capital of Prague Gallery observed this trend systematically and even helped to its creation, namely by organizing the Biennale of the young Art (The House at the Golden Ring) and a cycle of exhibitions of the most distinctive individualities (The Old Town Hall). These events created the basis on which the Capital of Prague Gallery builds up its collection of the Czech art of the 1990s. At present, this collection is installed at the basement of the House at the Golden Ring as the latest part of exposition of the Capital of Prague Gallery. The catalogue, including texts by M. Petříček, K. Srp and O. Malá, is not only a guide to the exhibition but also a sui generis reflection of the present-day situation. Each of the represented artists has his/her individual profile presenting his previous as well as exhibited work. Die Galerie der Hauptstadt Prag verfolgte diese Tendenz systematisch und beeinflußte sie sogar, besonders durch drei Jahrgänge ihrer Biennale der jungen Künstler (im Haus U kamenného zvonu) und den Ausstellungenzyklus der merkwürdigsten Persönlichkeiten (im Altstädter Rathaus). Auf der Basis dieser Veranstaltungen baut die Galerie der Hauptstadt Prag die Kollektion der tschechischen Kunst der 90-er Jahre auf. Diese Sammlung, die den jüngsten Teil der Dauerexposition dieser Galerie darstellt, wird in dem Haus U zlatého prstenu ausgestellt. Der Katalog mit den Texten von M. Petříček, K. Srp und O. Malá ist nicht nur ein Ausstellungsführer, sondern reflektiert auch eigenartig die aktuelle Situation.
